Re: i880 woont load ringtones with webjal

Ok... for the love of all things Holy! I have been at this for 5 days now. I must be some kinda idiot. I still cannot get any ringtone to play on my Motorola i880 phone.

I have converted it with dBpoweramp and uploaded it with webjal AND myjal (using the data cable). The files are on the phone and I can play them with my mp3 player, but I cannot assign them as ringtones.

Can anyone help me and tell me what I am doing wrong??

Did you try my sample ringtones I quoted?

I did not. I got an email from Sprint/Nextel and they told me that the files have to be mp3 or wma. Is that not correct?

Ok... I went and tried your sample ringtones. I did exactly as you said... tried them both (wav and mp3). Didn't work.

The ringtones are on my phone but there is no option to assign as a ringer.

I am lost and confused!

Try to highlight the mp3 in Media Center, select menue key, and move to phone

I tried that too... I don't think there is any hope for me...

There's always hope.
Delete any custom ring tones from phone, working or not.
Set volume to loud. (not vibtrate)
Put my MP3 from your PC on the card via card reader, move MP3 to phone, select tune, assign as...

Well i tried that. No luck. I am not sure what is going on with this phone (or me)...

I have had a same problem like the above poster ); I've been trying for a month to figure out webjal (My usb does not read the same ports as the intended webjal ports it wants. Example, Webjal reads only Com 2 or Com 3 and my usb is on Com 7) So I have had no luck with the Webjal at all with my i880 Now i have been using my new usb adapter for my phone to transfer the ringtones instead, but that does not work either. Will I not be able to do that? or do I really need the webjal?

I also tried the ringtones that was requested to use if it did not work. It said that it was not an actual file, maybe i needed webjal

Well.. I am able to use Webjal and still can't "assign" them on my phone. Webjal transfers them to my phone... I just don't have the "Assign as ringer" option.

Did you do this???You can get a BT dongle for @10 bucks.
OK I just did this on my i880 via Bluetooth (bt):
(PC) open bt> click on phone icon
(PC)click on objects icon
(PC)select file> send
PC & phone communicate
(phone)save file> open media center> card all
(phone)select file as ringtone> copies to phone
(phone)media center> phone all> lock file

i880 does not need webjal for ringtones.
Nextel does not disable ringtones.
are you using the correct format?
and is the card reader option correctly selected?
are the ringtones in the correct folder?
