I'm trying out a Blackjack right now for 30 days. Actually like it a lot.

But the 750 caught my eye. The only limitations I see on it (besides being twice the price of the BJ) are 240x240 screen (BJ is 320 x 240) and battery life - apparently it's really bad. It lacks a thumbwheel, but it is touchscreen. And it has the PocketPc version of WM5.0, instead of Smartphone edition. And has 850/1900/2100 WCDMA band instead of just 850/1900 on the BJ.

Blackjack is cheaper and slimmer. 320x240 screen. Battery life not great, but is it better than the Treo 750? Has Bluetooth 2.0 vs 1.2 on 750.

How is sound quality on the 750? I find sound quality and volume to be excellent on the Blackjack.

So basically my question is, do the PPC WM5.0, touchscreen of the 750, outweigh the lower price (probably one of my bigger constraints), 320x240 screen, thumbwheel, of the Blackjack??

I'm leaning towards the BJ based on cost, just wondering if the extra features of the 750 are worth it. I'm a gadget geek, but also like to bring it everywhere so thin profile is important, since i'll be more likely to bring it along. Not sure I'd need to be editing Word and Excel files on the go, but that might be a nice extra.

Also, I'm running the MediaMax data package (19.99/mo). With the 750, would I be forced into the PDA package (which starts at 39.99/mo)?

I'm also tempted by the 8525, although not too keen on the slider style. It does have Wi-Fi which is cool. And a wicked screen (large!). Touchscreen also.

And of course, I'd be tempted by the iPhone when it comes out (i'm a mac fan), so not sure i'd want to dump a ton of money on a device only to dump it in 3-4 months, but I guess I can always sell it.

Just looking for people that have any 2 or 3 of these, and can give their impressions, pros/cons, feedback, etc.

    thnx!!!

Re: 750 vs Blackjack (vs 8525)

I haven't messed with the blackjack, but I have tried the 750 and have the 8525. I got the 750 first because I had the 650 and liked it. The 750's battery is not good, no WiFi, and it seemed slow. My main problem is that when receiving a phone call, the screen would light up... about 2 seconds, it would display call in progress, about 1 or 2 seconds it would actually start ringing. Then I answer, and have to wait 2 seconds before it would pickup and the caller could hear me talking. Just not acceptable for me.

I pickedup the 8525 and haven't been dissapointed. It has the wheel like the blackberry, the touch screen and stylus like the palm, I thought the size would be a problem, but it isn't. it fits into my treo 650 case. The slide is ok and screen size is great. I'm keeping it.

Re: 750 vs Blackjack (vs 8525)

I ended up returning the Blackjack and picking up an 8525 last week. So far, I don't regret my choice one bit. The touch screen, full pocket pc edition (instead of smartphone), slide out keyboard, all outweigh the extra thickness of the 8525 vs the BJ. I'm definitely keeping the 8525 too. ;-)

    cheers

Yeah I need touchscreen on my phone. I guess I've gotten a bit attached to my Treo. Sometimes I even touch regular cell phones' screens and wonder why it's not a touchscreen. lol
