The battery life doesn't seem to be outstanding, but I did find that turning off wifi, gps, and security pattern improves the life a little bit. Also, make sure you are using a quality charger and not a cheap knockoff charger.

There are several after market extended batteries available, if you don't mind additional thickness on the the back end of the phone.

I never really thought of it before, but I suppose i should check to see if the Magic's battery (higher capacity than G1) will fit in the G1. hmmm.

Re: Improving battery life on the G1

I had added a non-Gmail account and found that having it check for e-mail often really ate up the battery. Honestly, the non-Gmail mail support on the stock G1 is so poor (compared to my Blackberry, anyway), I just turned it off went with the Gmail exclusively.

That, and turning the screen brightness down have been the biggies for me.

You all do know that if you turn you G1 off while it is charging it charges 10 times faster then when it is turned on while charging. Try this when charging your phone I promise you will see better results!

keep the screen brightness at the lowest setting always remeber to turn the screen off when your not using it, try to not use apps that will drain the battery when away from the charger

i bought one of those extended batteries, now while it lasts me all day (thats with wi-fi, data, gps, and brightness all the way up), it has also doubled the size of my phone. That's about the only drawback
