Can the G1 be unlocked to work on MetroPCS network?

Can the G1 be unlocked to work on MetroPCS network? I really want this phone but don't want the increased monthly bill if I switch to T-Mobile. Thanks in advance for all help!

IIRC, You can only use Sprint flashed phones on MetroPCS network, other than of course MetroPCS Phones.

According to Wiki, CDMA is used by Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular, Tracphone, Virgin Mobile, Quest, Cellular south, and several other smaller companies, so I believe you can use those as well, if you can get someone to flash the software.

Also, just be aware I have heard that if you flash the phone, they don't always function 100 percent, such as I have heard of them not working on the Internet.

instead of getting the phone flash cant i just get one unlocked and use the IMEI on the back of the phone

No, because unlocking the phone doesn't work with these types of phones. It wouldn't matter if you had it unlocked up and down, Metro PCS wont allow it, you have to have it flashed for get an old Metro phone to use on their network.

Yes your right! G1 wont work with Metro PCS! but hey Verizon + Sprint have grat phones to flash over to Metro! like the BlackBerry Storm 2 or the Samsung env / instinct, I mean just go to a Metro PCS store and they will flash it and transfom it into a Metro PCS network phone!

i now have a Verizon wirless LG Touch phone turned into Metro PCS with web / Pix / text & Nationwide calling. Just look around to unlock web/internet!
