getting message "tunnel service starting" constantly

I've got an HTC Dream/T-Mobile G1 on T-mobile, and I'm getting "tunnel service starting" showing up all of the time when using numerous applications, seemingly without any particular rhyme or reason.

Anyone else having this trouble, and have you seen any solution for it?
