Battery Saving Mode

Enabling Power Saver Mode:

NOTE: you can enable power saver mode to let the phone automatically decrease brightness, under-clock the CPU and adjust a series of settings in order to increase the battery performance once the battery levels are on yellow. To enable this feature:

  1. Swipe the "Status" bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap the "" button associated with "Power Saver Mode"
  3. Clear / Mark the check boxes associated with the features that you wish to be disabled or enabled
  4. Set the feature's switch to "ON" to enable it

Adjusting the Display's Settings

Decreasing the Screen Brightness:

  1. While on the home screen, swipe the "Status" bar down with two fingers
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Under "Phone", tap "Display, gestures & buttons"
  4. Tap "Brightness" and clear the "Automatic brightness" check box to set the levels manually
  5. Drag the "Brightness" slider to the left

Lowering the Screen Timeout Duration:

  1. Drag the "Status" bar down with two fingers
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Tap "Display, gestures & buttons" under "Phone"
  4. Tap "Sleep" and select a lower duration, like "15 seconds"

Disabling the Live Wallpaper:

NOTE: In order to preserve battery life, it's highly recommended that you don't use live wallpapers, as they can have a great negative impact on your phone's battery performance. To do this:

  1. Access the phone's "Settings" menu
  2. Tap "Personalize" > "Wallpaper"
  3. Select either "Gallery" or "HTC wallpapers"
  4. Choose an image and tap "Done" or "Accept". NOTE: if picking an image form the "Gallery", you'll have to crop it before applying it

Dimming the Screen When Loading Web Pages:

NOTE: you can set the "HTC Internet" application so that it dims the screen when loading pages. A lower screen brightness is always better for the battery, and if you're browsing the web very often, enabling this feature can tremendously increase the battery performance

  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  2. Launch the "Internet" app
  3. Tap "Menu" > "Settings"
  4. Tap "Accessibility" and mark the "Dim screen during page loading" check box

Disabling Touch Sounds and Haptic Feedback:

  1. Swipe the "Status" bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Under "Phone", tap "Sound"
  4. Clear the check boxes associated with "Vibrate", "Vibrate on touch" and "Touch sounds"

Connectivity Management

NOTE: A smartphone's connectivity features can greatly affect the battery performance. As such, it's highly recommended that you disable all connectivity features when they're not in use. This can greatly improve battery life.

Disabling Wi-Fi and Bluetooth:

  1. While viewing the home screen, swipe the "Status" bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap the tiles associated with "Bluetooth" and "Wi-Fi" in order to disable these features

Disabling GPS:

NOTE: a phone's GPS is one of the most energy consuming features, so it's highly recommended that you keep GPS off when you're not using it. To do so:

  1. Use two fingers to swipe the "Status" bar down
  2. Tap "Settings" > "Locations"
  3. Clear the "location sources" check box

Enabling Sleep Mode:

NOTE: when enabling sleep mode, all the data connections of your smartphone will be disabled after a certain period of time of inactivity. Once you wake your phone, the data connections will automatically re-enable.

  1. Access the phone's "Settings" menu
  2. Tap "Power" under "Phone"
  3. Tap the "ON / OFF" switch associated with "Sleep mode", and set it to "ON"

Managing Background Data and Syncing

Changing the Sync Settings for the "Weather" App:

NOTE: in order to decrease data traffic and reduce battery consumption, you can disable cities that you don't visit from the weather app.

  1. Tap the "Apps" icon while on the home screen
  2. Tap "Weather"
  3. Press the "Menu" key
  4. Tap "Edit"
  5. Remove the desired locations / cities

Changing the Sync Settings for Email Accounts:

  1. Launch the "Mail" application
  2. Choose an account and tap "Menu"
  3. Tap "Settings" > "Sync, Send & receive"
  4. Adjust the sync settings under "Sync schedule"

Disabling Data Sync:

  1. Swipe the "Status" bar down with two fingers
  2. Tap "Settings" > "Accounts & sync"
  3. Clear the desired check boxes to disable data sync

Managing Applications

Uninstalling or Disabling Apps:

NOTE: by disabling or uninstalling unused applications, you can increase your phone's battery life. This is due to the fact that, while you may not use an app, it can still sync and run processes in the background.

  1. Go to the phone's "Settings" menu
  2. Tap "Apps" and access the "All" tab
  3. Select the desired application
  4. To turn off the app, tap "Disable"
  5. Tap "Uninstall" if you wish to completely remove the app

Keeping Your Apps Up to Date:

  1. Access the "Play Store"
  2. Go to the "My apps" section
  3. Swipe to the "Installed" tab
  4. Tap "Update all", or tap the "Update" button associated with the desired app, to update it individually
