Transferring Contacts via iTunes:

iTunes provides one of the most common methods of transferring contacts from an iPhone. The software allows the user to sync the contacts from an iPhone with a Google account, which in turn allows the user to easily sync the contacts from the Google account with the Android smartphone. For this method, you require a computer with iTunes installed and access to the Internet.

  1. Open iTunes on your computer
  2. Connect the iPhone to the PC via USB
  3. After it connects, the iPhone will pop-up in iTunes. Click it to view its summary page
  4. Go to the "Info" tab and mark the "Sync Contacts With" check box
  5. From the drop-down menu, select "Google Contacts"
  6. Sign in with your Google account in iTunes. In case you've already added an account before, you can click "Configure" and select it from the list
  7. Click "Apply" to star the syncing process between iTunes and your account
  8. Register the same account on the HTC One E8, and allow Google to sync contacts with your Android smartphone

Transferring Contacts via iCloud:

The iCloud backup service can be used for contact transfer as well, and in case you have used the service on your iPhone before, then chances are that your contacts are already backed up on your iCloud account. By accessing it via a computer with access to the Internet, you can export your contacts as a vCard file. To do so:

  1. Launch the Internet browser on your computer and visit https://www.icloud.com/
  2. Sign in with your iCloud account
  3. Click "Contacts" and select the contacts that you want to export
  4. Click the cog wheel icon located in the lower-left side, and select "Export vCard"
  5. Your computer will now download the vCard file
  6. After the file has been downloaded, import it to "Google Contacts". Alternatively, skip this step and perform the next one instead:
  7. Connect the HTC One E8 to the computer using the USB cable. Then, copy the vCard file to the phone's "sdcard" directory, and launch the "people" application. From the "People" tab, press "Menu" > "Import / Export" and perform any self-explanatory steps in order to load the VCF to your phonebook

Using "My Contacts Backup":

You can transfer your iPhone contacts even though you might not have access to a computer with Internet. There are numerous third party apps out there that can help you transfer the contacts, such as "My Contacts Backup". This is an iOS app with the help of which you can back up your contacts and send them to your HTC One E8 via email.

  1. Visit the App Store and install "My Contacts Backup" on the iPhone
  2. Once installed, launch the app and tap "Backup"
  3. After the file has been created, tap "Email"
  4. Attach the file to the email and send it to your own Gmail address
  5. Switch over to the HTC One E8 and open the email
  6. Download the VCF file attachment and use the "People" app and the "Import" function on the E8 to grab the contacts to your phonebook

Using "Send Anywhere" to Transfer Contacts:

Finally, you can also use "Send Anywhere" to transfer your contacts from the iPhone over to the HTC One E8, without using a computer. Send Anywhere is a third party app that is available on both iOS and Android. It uses a P2P connection and it can be used to transfer various types of files cross-platform.

  1. Install "Send Anywhere" on the iPhone via the App Store
  2. From the Google Play Store, install the same app on your HTC One E8
  3. Open the app on both devices
  4. Tap "Send" on the iPhone, and select "Contacts"
  5. Mark the contacts that you want to transfer, and tap "Send"
  6. Finally, select the transfer method. You can tap "Generate QR Code" on the iPhone and scan the code with the E8's camera to commence the transfer. Alternatively, you can tap "Receive" on the One E8, and enter the randomly generated transfer code from the iPhone
