The other day i went to push the button to turn the screen back on, but it did nothing, i thought maybe i ran out of batter so i went to plug my ATT TILT into my computer but it did not work, a red light came up rather than the amber color for it charging or the green light of it being fully charge

the phone has not worked since, i have tried everything to turn it back on. Is this like the ring of death for the xbox360, well the equivilent to that, mayb the red light of death?

    Re: Htc tilt red light

I had a similar problem with my ATT HTC and after replacing the battery it worked fine. From what the technician told me, it happened because I depleted that battery too much by repeatedly trying to use it after the first low power shutoff.
    He was right

try this and let me know what the results were.

    take out the battery,

plug it into the wall charger
and you'll see the light being on,

Now this part requires some technique,

You have to "jump start" it.
this problem seems to be an electrical one,
might think it could be one of the ic chips.

basically, you need to take the battery and establish and break a constant connection,
in other terms, the port on the battery ( the copper part where the batter connects to the phone ),
needs to touch surface with the pins on the phone.

however only for a second though, up to the time where you feel that all the pins are in contact,
you rapidly pull away and then repeat.

Do this for about +20 rapid connection and you'll suddenly hear a "pop" and you'll see the light go from red back to the orangish color and the phone is back alive!

I've done this procedure on several phones already,
all with successes, so let me know how things work out!

So i tried to do the whole battery back and forth thing for 30+ times but still did not get a pop sound. now do i just slide the battery back and forth really fast or should i go slow or should i be placing the battery down and taking it back out for 20+ times

    Re: Htc tilt red light

The same thing, "red light", happened to my Tilt. A friend loaned me a spare battery which i was able to use for a short while (less than an hour) before the phone became extremely warm and went off. I saw that the red light was back...I don't know if I ruined my friend's battery or not. I have a new battery on order but I'm not sure if the same thing will happen. Very disappointed in the Tilt and will not buy another HTC product. I tried the above "20+ sliding technique" and it didn't work for me either. I don't believe what the technician told Dat1 because i never depleted my battery nor was i able to use it after it shut off...Seems like the phone's just a piece of crap.

i've had that same experience with all my HTC phones.
i guess they're not meant for long-time use.

That just seems strange. it doesn't help to pull the battery?

Ok, so have you tried a regular old soft reset or hard reset? That's always step one for me. Good luck!
