HTC put out this smartphone with a large screen but with a battery that is average in size. This particular smartphone is able to handle 4G networks as well. With those two qualities together, it can mean a quick drain on a battery of 1700 mAh. If you have taken a look at some Motorola smartphones, they have batteries with 3300 mAh of power. That is quite a difference. Here are a few tips to help an HTC Droid smartphone user create longer times in between charges.
The first thing to do to save battery life on the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE is to consider whether or not it is really necessary to turn it on. Not using a smartphone is the first way to save on battery life. Putting it in your pocket and having it "wake up" at programmed times is a great way to prevent using the battery. Since many people will not find that an option, the next choice would be to turn down the screen brightness. This can be found in the menus of the smartphone under the "settings" section. There is also an option to let the phone make its own decisions on how bright the display should be. You are smarter than the phone, though. Set it to the lowest level you can stand. It is a great way to keep from having to charge the Droid so much.
The 4G networks use more battery energy than 3G or 2G networks. If you know how to turn off the 4G networks feature or you know you will not be in an area covered by 4G towers, you can turn it off and get longer battery life. You can do this also if you know you will not need a 3G network. The 2G will be the least amount of power used for a call. The same menu section, the "settings" section, will allow you to turn off the proper networks to save the most battery juice. It will be found under the "Network Mode" option.
An almost secret way to help save battery life in the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE is to get the Opera browser. It is faster than the installed Webkit browser. If your data plan is going to be limited, and most are, it will also not only save your battery life, it will save you money. How? The Opera Mini will browse the web at higher speeds. This means you will get to where you want to be on the web faster. If you arrive faster, less battery time is used. The Opera Mini browser caches data from frequently visited sites so that it does not have to be reloaded. This means less data is downloaded and results in a longer time to arrive at your data limit from the carrier. It is common sense that if you are on the web a smaller amount of time, less battery power will be used.
One of the other uncommon tips to saving battery life on the HTC Droid Incredible is to use a shorter ringtone. If your friends are calling you and the ringtone is half your favorite tune, it uses more battery. If you can bear it, just make the ringtone a short beep. This is better for the battery than half of a Shakira song blaring out of the speaker. Another tip to save battery life is to not use the vibrate feature. The actual motor that does the vibrating uses plenty of battery juice. If you can set the screen to flash while in silent mode, go for it. Your battery will love you for it.
Keeping an eye on the apps you have open is another way to save battery life. Turn them off, and while you are at it, if you have a dynamic moving wallpaper, replace it. The nice wallpapers may look nice, but a plain black one uses less battery juice. The last tip is to watch your signal strength meter. If you are not near a cell tower and the signal is low, it will cause the smartphone to use more battery power. If you can not get closer to the tower, and you are inside, go near a window or walk out the door. Your Droid Incredible battery will last longer.
