Turning Wi-Fi On or Off

  1. Go to the Start screen and swipe to the left.
  2. Then tap Settings.
  3. Touch Wi-Fi.
  4. To turn Wi-Fi networking On or Off, tap the slider.
  5. Wi-Fi should now be enabled or disabled, as desired

Connecting to a Wi-Fi Network

  1. Go to the Start screen and swipe to the left.
  2. Then tap Settings.
  3. Tap the Wi-Fi networking slider to turn it Off.
  4. Then select the Wi-Fi network you wish to connect to.
  5. If you want to manually configure a hidden Wi-Fi network, tap advanced.
  6. You may be asked to enter the Wi-Fi network password.
  7. Do so and tap done when finished.
  8. Your HTC 8XT should now be connected to a Wi-Fi network.

Connecting to a Hidden Wi-Fi Network

If a Wi-Fi network is hidden, the network name will not be broadcasted, so it will not appear in the list of available networks on the Wi-Fi Settings screen nor will you see a notification when the network is in range.
Don’t worry, though. You can connect to a hidden Wi-Fi network when it's in range, you you just need to enter the network name and password.

  1. Go to the Start screen, slide to the left.
  2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  3. Touch Wi-Fi.
  4. Touch the Wi-Fi networking switch to turn Wi-Fi On. .
  5. Tap advanced.
  6. Tap the plus sign icon (+) and enter the network name -> then tap add.
  7. From the Sign in screen, enter the Wi-Fi network password.
  8. When finished, tap done.

Disconnecting From a Wi-Fi Network

  1. From the Start screen, slide to the left.
  2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  3. Then tap Wi-Fi.
  4. Tap the Wi-Fi networking switch to turn Wi-Fi Off – you will then disconnect from the wireless network.
  5. If you want to delete the network, tap and hold the network name.
  6. Then tap delete to disconnect.
  7. By tapping delete, the security settings of a secured network will be removed, so next time you want to reconnect to the same Wi-Fi network, you will need to enter the security settings again.

Turning Wi-Fi Hotspot On or Off
Note: Some carriers may require a separate Mobile Hotspot plan in order to use your smartphone as a mobile hotspot.

  1. Go to the Start screen and swipe to the left.
  2. Then scroll to and touch Settings.
  3. Tap internet sharing.
  4. Touch the internet sharing switch to either disable or enable a Hotspot access.
  5. The Wi-Fi hotspot has been successfully enabled.

Setting up Wi-Fi Hotspot

Note: Some carriers may require a separate Mobile Hotspot plan in order to use your smartphone as a mobile hotspot.

  1. Go to the Start screen and swipe to the left.
  2. Then scroll to and touch Settings.
  3. Touch internet sharing to enable this setting.
  4. To configure internet sharing, tap Setup.
  5. If you wish to edit the Broadcast name, tap the field and enter the desired name.
  6. In the Password field, enter the desired password.
  7. When finished, tap the Checkmark icon.
  8. Internet sharing should now be successfully setup.
