Display Settings and Power Saving Mode Management

Enabling Power Saver Mode:

By enabling the Power Saver Mode you can improve your phone's battery life at the cost of performance, lower screen brightness etc. Once your battery reaches the yellow levels, the power saver mode can be set to enable automatically. To manually enable this mode:

  1. From the home screen, swipe the "Status" bar down with two fingers
  2. Tap the "" button from the "Power Saver Mode" tile
  3. Mark or clear the check boxes associated with the features that you wish to be enabled or disabled during the mode
  4. To enable power saver, tap the tile associated with it

Adjusting the Screen Brightness:

  1. From the home screen, swipe the "Status" bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap "Settings" and swipe to "Phone"
  3. Tap "Display, gestures & buttons"
  4. Tap "Brightness" and clear the check box next to "Automatic brightness"
  5. Drag the "Brightness" slider to the left

Changing the Screen Timeout Duration:

  1. Drag the "notification" bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap the "Settings" tile
  3. Scroll to "Phone" and tap "Display, gestures & buttons"
  4. Tap "Sleep" and select "15 seconds"

Disabling Your Live Wallpaper:

NOTE: a live wallpaper can have a negative impact on your phone's battery life, especially if it's graphically intensive. As such, it's recommended that you disable live wallpapers. To do so:

  1. While on the home screen, swipe the "Status" bar down
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "Personal" and tap "Personalize"
  4. Tap "Wallpaper" and select either "HTC Wallpapers" or "Gallery"
  5. Tap the image that you wish to set as a wallpaper, and tap "Accept" or "Done". NOTE: if you've selected an image from the gallery, you will need to resize and crop it before applying it on the home screen

Disabling Haptic Feedback and Touch Sounds:

  1. From the home screen, tap "Applications"
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Tap "Sound" under "Phone"
  4. Clear the check boxes associated with "Vibrate", "Vibrate on touch" and "Touch sounds"

Setting the Browser to Dim the Display when Loading Pages:

  1. Open the HTC "Internet" application
  2. Tap "Menu" > "Settings"
  3. Tap "Accessibility"
  4. Mark the check box next to "Dim screen during page loading"

Application Management

Disabling / Uninstalling Unused Apps:

NOTE: it's highly advised to disable or uninstall the applications that you don't use. Although an app is not active, it can still have an impact on your phone's battery performance, as it could run processes and services in the background.

  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" and go to "Apps"
  3. Access the "All" tab
  4. Select the desired application and tap "Disable"
  5. To remove an app completely, select it and tap "Uninstall"

Keeping Your Applications Updated:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch the "Play Store"
  3. Go to the "My Apps" section
  4. Access the "Installed" tab and choose the desired app. Alternatively, tap "Update all"

Connectivity Settings

Disabling GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi:

NOTE: a smartphone's connectivity features, such as GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, can have a massive impact on your phone's battery life. As such, you should keep these features disabled whenever they are not in use.

  1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Access the "Settings" menu and tap "Locations"
  3. Clear the check box associated with "Location sources". This will disable GPS
  4. To turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, go back to the home screen
  5. Drag the "notification" bar down using two fingers
  6. Tap the "Bluetooth" and "Wi-Fi" tiles to disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

Enabling Sleep Mode:

NOTE: you can enable sleep mode to increase battery life. When turned on, this feature disables all connectivity features after a certain period of time of inactivity.

  1. Tap the "Apps" icon while on the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Scroll to "Phone" and tap "Power"
  4. Tap the "Sleep mode" option to turn the feature on

NOTE: when sleep mode is active, the phone's connectivity features will automatically turn on when you bring the smartphone out of sleep mode.

Changing the Sync Settings

Changing the Syncing Time for your Email Accounts:

  1. Launch the "Mail" application
  2. Select an account
  3. Press "Menu" > "Settings"
  4. Tap "Sync, Send & Receive" and adjust the sync settings under "Sync schedule"

Changing the Sync Settings for the Weather Service:

NOTE: you can conserve your phone's battery by disabling the weather sync for locations and cities that are of no importance to you. Evidently, this will result in less data being synced, and higher battery life on the long run

  1. Tap "Apps" from the home screen
  2. Launch the "Weather" app
  3. Press "Menu" and tap "Edit"
  4. Remove the locations that you don't want to sync weather data for

Disabling Data Sync:

  1. Open the phone's "Settings" menu
  2. Tap "Accounts & sync"
  3. Clear the check boxes associated with the sync features that you want to disable
