Back Up Your Phone to Google Drive:

  1. On the home screen, drag the “Status” bar down
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Tap “Backup & reset” > “Backup account”
  4. Tap “HTC Account”
  5. Sign in with your HTC account (alternatively you can use a Facebook or Google account)
  6. Tap “Google Drive” > “OK” in the “Cloud Storage” menu
  7. Sign in to you Google account to access Google Drive
  8. Optionally enable the “Automatic backup” feature
  9. To manually back up data, tap “Back up now”

NOTE: You can set your phone to create daily backups over Wi-Fi by going to “Settings” > “Back up phone daily over Wi-Fi”

Restore Data from Google Drive:

  1. After rebooting your device following a master reset, tap “Restore from HTC Backup”
  2. Register the account used for the backup
  3. Go to the history menu and select the desired backup
  4. Tap “Next” and when prompted, register your Google account
  5. Allow HTC Backup to connect to Google Drive and tap “Next” to restore the files

Back Up & Restore Data Locally

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Open “Phone”
  2. Access the “People” tab
  3. Press “Menu” > “Manage contacts”
  4. Tap “Import / Export contacts” > “Export to SD card”
  5. Tap “Export to SD card” / “Export to phone storage”
  6. Select the account you want to use for the backup
  7. To set a backup password tap “Yes”
  8. Tap “OK”

Restore Contacts:

  1. Launch “People”
  2. Press “Menu” > “Manage Contacts”
  3. Tap “Import / Export contacts” > “Import contacts from phone storage” (or SD if applicable)
  4. Select an account if necessary
  5. Tap the desired backup file > “OK”
  6. If the backup is protected by a password, enter it and tap “OK”

Back Up Messages:

  1. Launch “Messages”
  2. Tap “Menu” > “Backup / Restore SMS”
  3. Tap “Back up” > “Back up SMS”
  4. Set a password for the backup file (optional)
  5. Enter the backup file’s name and tap “OK”

Back Up Text Messages via Email:

  1. Open “Messages”
  2. Press “Menu” > “Back up / Restore SMS”
  3. Tap “Back up” > “Back up SMS via email”
  4. Optionally, set a password for the file
  5. Make sure the email contains the backup file as an attachment
  6. Send the email to your own address

NOTE: To restore messages via email, open the email containing the attachment, download the file, and import its contents via “Messages”

Back Up / Restore Tasks:

  1. Open “Tasks” and press “Menu”
  2. Tap “Import / Export” > “Export to SD card”


  1. To restore tasks, open “Tasks”
  2. Press “Menu” > “Import / Export” > “Import from SD card”
  3. Select the backup file and if necessary, follow the on-screen prompts

Back Up Your Dictionary:

  1. Go to the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Language & Keyboard”
  3. Tap “HTC Sense Input” > “Personal dictionary”
  4. Press “Menu” > “Back up to storage”
  5. Tap “Back up to email” > “OK”

Restore Dictionaries:

  1. Access “Settings”
  2. Tap “Languages & Keyboard"
  3. Tap “HTC Sense Input” > “Personal dictionary”
  4. Press “Menu” > “Restore from storage”
  5. Tap “OK” to confirm
