NOTE: For instructions on how you can back up data on the HTC Butterfly 3, you can visit this thread.
Restore App Data:
- Make sure the Butterfly 3 is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to “Settings” and scroll to “Personal”
- Tap “Backup and reset” > “Restore from HTC Backup”
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete
Restore Contacts:
- Access the “Settings” menu
- Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts & sync”
- If necessary, sign in with the Google account containing the contacts backup
- Tap “Menu” > “Sync all”
Restore Media Files from a Windows Computer:
- Connect the HTC Butterfly 3 to your PC via USB
- Swipe the “Status” bar down enable “Media device (MTP)” / “disk drive”
- Open the File Explorer on your PC
- Locate the media file backups on the computer and copy them
- Paste the files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage from the system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
Restore Media Files from a Mac:
- Establish a USB connection between the Butterfly 3 and PC
- Swipe the “status” bar down and make sure “Media device (MTP)” or “disk drive” is enabled
- Open the file explorer on the Mac and locate the media files backed up on the Mac
- Copy the files and transfer them on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory
- Once the transfer is complete, drag the phone’s virtual drive into the “trash can” to eject it
- You can now safely disconnect the HTC device from the USB connector
