NOTE: For instructions on how you can back up data on the HTC Butterfly 3, you can visit this thread.

Restore App Data:

  1. Make sure the Butterfly 3 is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
  2. Open the apps drawer
  3. Go to “Settings” and scroll to “Personal
  4. Tap “Backup and reset” > “Restore from HTC Backup
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete

Restore Contacts:

  1. Access the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts & sync
  3. If necessary, sign in with the Google account containing the contacts backup
  4. Tap “Menu” > “Sync all

Restore Media Files from a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the HTC Butterfly 3 to your PC via USB
  2. Swipe the “Status” bar down enable “Media device (MTP)” / “disk drive
  3. Open the File Explorer on your PC
  4. Locate the media file backups on the computer and copy them
  5. Paste the files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory
  6. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage from the system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

Restore Media Files from a Mac:

  1. Establish a USB connection between the Butterfly 3 and PC
  2. Swipe the “status” bar down and make sure “Media device (MTP)” or “disk drive” is enabled
  3. Open the file explorer on the Mac and locate the media files backed up on the Mac
  4. Copy the files and transfer them on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory
  5. Once the transfer is complete, drag the phone’s virtual drive into the “trash can” to eject it
  6. You can now safely disconnect the HTC device from the USB connector
