NOTE: For instructions on how you can back up app data, contacts, and media files on the HTC Desire 825, visit this thread.
Restore App Data:
- Make sure your device is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to “Settings”
- Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup and reset”
- Tap “Restore from HTC Backup”
- Follow the on-screen prompts to select an account and complete the restore
Restore Contacts from a Google Account:
- Access the “Settings” menu
- Under “Personal”, tap “Accounts & sync”
- If necessary, sign in with the Google account you used for backing up your contacts
- Access the account’s sync options and make sure “Contacts” is enabled
- Tap “Menu” > “Sync all”
Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:
- Connect the HTC Desire 825 to your PC via USB
- Swipe the “Status” bar down
- In the notification area, make sure the connection is set to “Media device (MTP)” or “disk drive”
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media files backed up on your PC and copy them
- Navigate to the phone storage and transfer the files, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folder(s) they originate from
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone’s virtual drive via system tray
- Safely disconnect the device from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:
- Establish a USB connection between the HTC Desire 825 and PC
- On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down and enable “Media device (MTP)” or “disk drive” if necessary
- Open the file explorer on the Mac
- Use the explorer to locate the media files backed up on your computer
- Copy the files and transfer them on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory
- After the transfer is done, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it in the “trash can”
- You can now safely disconnect the device from the USB port
