Restore App Data:
- Make sure your phone is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch “Settings”
- Under “Personal”, tap “Backup and reset”
- Select “Restore from HTC Backup”
- Follow the on-screen steps to select a backup account and complete the restore
Restore Contacts from a Google Account:
- Go to “Settings”
- Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts & sync”
- If necessary, sign in with your Google backup account
- Access the account’s sync settings and ensure “Contacts” is enabled
- Tap “Menu” > “Sync all”
Restore Media Files from a Windows Computer:
- Connect the HTC Desire 628 to your computer via USB
- Swipe the “Status” bar down
- Enable “Media device (MTP)”
- On the computer, open the File Explorer and locate the media file backups
- Transfer the backup files back on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folders they originate from
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
Restore Media Files from a Mac:
- Connect the HTC Desire 628 to your computer via USB
- On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down
- Enable “Media device (MTP)”
- On the Mac, open the File Finder
- Locate the backup media files and copy them
- Transfer the files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual storage drive from the desktop and dropping it into the “trash can”
- You can now safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
