Restore App Data:

  1. Make sure your phone is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
  2. Open the apps drawer
  3. Launch “Settings
  4. Under “Personal”, tap “Backup and reset
  5. Select “Restore from HTC Backup
  6. Follow the on-screen steps to select a backup account and complete the restore

Restore Contacts from a Google Account:

  1. Go to “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts & sync
  3. If necessary, sign in with your Google backup account
  4. Access the account’s sync settings and ensure “Contacts” is enabled
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync all

Restore Media Files from a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the HTC Desire 628 to your computer via USB
  2. Swipe the “Status” bar down
  3. Enable “Media device (MTP)
  4. On the computer, open the File Explorer and locate the media file backups
  5. Transfer the backup files back on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folders they originate from
  6. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord

Restore Media Files from a Mac:

  1. Connect the HTC Desire 628 to your computer via USB
  2. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down
  3. Enable “Media device (MTP)
  4. On the Mac, open the File Finder
  5. Locate the backup media files and copy them
  6. Transfer the files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory
  7. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual storage drive from the desktop and dropping it into the “trash can
  8. You can now safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
