NOTE: You can visit this thread for instructions on how to back up app data, contacts, and media files from the HTC Desire 650.
Restore App Data:
- Make sure the device is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
- Open the apps drawer and go to “Settings”
- Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup and reset”
- Tap “Restore from HTC Backup” and follow the on-screen steps to choose a backup account
Restore Contacts from a Google Account:
- Launch “Settings”
- Under “Personal”, tap “Accounts & Sync”
- Sign in with the Google account containing the contact backups
- Access the account’s sync settings
- Ensure “Contacts” is checked and tap “Menu” > “Sync All”
Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Connect the HTC Desire 650 to your computer via USB
- Turn on “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer and locate the media file backups on the PC storage
- Copy and paste the backup files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder or the directories they originate from
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:
- Connect the HTC phone to your Mac via USB
- Enable “File Transfer (MTP)” / “Media device (MTP)” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
- Open the File Finder on the Mac and locate the media file backups on the computer storage
- Copy the files and transfer them on the phone storage, preferably in the folder(s) they originate from
- After the transfer is complete, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it into the “Trash can”
- Safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
