I'm looking for a new phone to use with Sprint to replace my Sanyo
8100. I'm not looking for more features, the 8100 has more than
enough, it's just that it doesn't fit in my pocket right and the
signal strengh is weak in my bedroom. I am really happy with the build
quality of it though, it's just not flat enough for me, so it tends to
go sideways in the bottom of my pocket and get sat on. My old motorola
8767 fit flat against my leg, even though it's heavier, it was less
noticable, and it had better signal strength. The only reason I got
the 8100 was because the motorola was falling apart.
I don't ever use the camera and would gladely trade the large screen,
camera, and PCS Vision capability in for a thinner phone with better
signal strength.
So, what's out there, what phones have a good reputation for being
problem free and well built, and even more importantly, what brands
are good these days?
Thanks,
Keith

Likely to be the same regardless of phone. Sanyo tends to have better
reception than some other makes.

Slim phones with good RF are hard to find these days. Samsungs are the
thinest IMO (a500, A620, & VGA 1000). Sanyos seem to have better RF in
fringe areas, but as you mention they are not flat (chunky IMO). The
Sanyo 5400 looks to be slim, but with the PTT delay who knows when we
will see it. There is the Sanyo 6400 but it is B&W very slim Vision
phone, with good RF. But tends to get hot after 5 minutes of use and
Vision isn't very good on it. I sold my 8100 for the same reason you
mention. And I just picked up a a500 today and so far so good. I did
make sure it had the newest software (WD29). I would say check out one
of the samsungs I mentioned. If it dosn't work out, then check ebay for
another 8767. Good Luck!
