    Hi,

I'd like to put an external cell antenna on my house to improve my
    reception.

Before I do, I'd like to measure the signal strength of the exisiting
    signal.

Is is possible to measure signal strength, in db, with a cell phone?
I've heard you can do it, but a 'subsidiary password' was needed on
both my Motorola V262 and V266. And I wasn't able to get into the Test
Mode of my Kyocera KX5. (Sorry, the number of "bars" is not enough).

Are there any common cell phones out there that the User can easily
    read the signal strength with?

Is there another (cheap/free) was to dertemine the signal strength at
    my house?

    thanks,
    Ron

On a LG phone, press <menu> then <0> and you are prompted with
    "??????".

Enter <000000>, then <2> for field tests, then <1> for screen.

Scroll down to "Rx" and that is your signal strength in db. -32 is a
very strong signal while -105 is barely usable.

Motorola phones have something similar. I don't remember the key
sequence. I good source for answers to questions like yours are in
