For some reason, I cannot seem to get any created ringtones onto my iPhone. I bought a new 3G iPhone a few weeks back and have been trying to get new ringtones on it, but am having no luck. I followed quite a few different websites in how to do this, and everything seems to work fine from setting the start/stop times of the file, converting to an AAC file, saving to my desktop and then converting to an .m4r format. But, when I try to drag this .m4r file back to my RINGTONES area in the iPhone software (on Windows XP), it does not transfer ... seems to not be able to be drug into there for some reason.

I am confused ... what am I doing wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Help Creating Ringtones

you might want to check out this site - audiko dot net - that you can make whichever ringtones for free and then you download the file. you can't just make an .mp3 and change the ending for it to be that way, there has to be an actual physical conversion for the iPhone. They will download in the proper format (when you click the 'download to itunes' button) and go right in the folder.

You have a right to be confused, as iTunes fails silently in this case.

You have to delete the AAC file of the same name (which you created previously) from the Music section of your iTunes library before iTunes will let you drag the M4R file back in to the Ringtones section.
