    Re: Cell phone transfer

No, you cannot use the telephone on Verizon. Only telephones with GSM/UMTS technology will work with GoPhone service. These include any telephone used on AT&T Mobility in postpaid or prepaid service. You may use telephones from other GSM/UMTS carrier if the telephone is unlocked and has GSM 850 and GSM 1900 bands. One would need UMTS Bands II (1900) and V (850) for 3G/4G service. LTE service would require LTE Bands II (1900), IV (1700), V (850) and XVII (700). AT&T Mobility may not be using all the LTE bands at each location.

You can transfer your telephone number to another carrier regardless of the technologies used by each carrier. The one stipulation is that both the old and new carriers must offer service in the same local market. For example, if you have only Verizon service at the location where your number is based, you cannot transfer the number to another carrier. It does not matter where you are physically located, it matters where the number is located.
