    Hi everyone,

My phone has started saying 'SIM card registration failed' when I turn it
on. Does it mean that the SIM is being blocked for some reason, perhaps by
the carrier (Optus in my case)? It doesn't bother me much - not relying on
having the phone is quite liberating but I would prefer to have it usable
    again. 8-)

    Craig.

If the phone displays the message all the time, then the sim has been
    blocked. Contact service.
If it is intermittant, phone may also display 'Insert SIM', then you have
dirty SIM contacts. Pull the battery off, sim out, and give the contacts and
the sim itself a clean with electrical solvent. Let dry for a couple of
    minutes, reassemble.

    -mark

It means the sim has been disabled by Optus. If it is postpaid then the
service has either been suspended or cancelled. If it is prepaid it's
generally because the prepaid service has had no credit on it for 6
months and is therefore cancelled and cannot be re-connected.

Buy a new prepaid starter pack if that's the case, but you won't be
able to keep your old number unless approved under exceptional
    circumstances.

You will also get it if your SIM is plain out faulty
