I found this neat little program that allows you to use your Bluetooth enabled phone as a remote control for your PC. You need 2 things: The program that runs on your computer, and the Java app that runs on the phone. So, I figured I would give it a try. (My laptop has IR, but I didn't want to spend more money on an IR remote if my phone could do the same thing.) Anyways, since I borrowed my data cable to a friend, I had to download the Java app directly from the mobile web to my phone. It automatically installed itself, but upon completion, it gave an error that said, "Failed: Invalid File." I was wondering if anyone here has heard of/used this program with a Moto V5xx phone, and gotten it to work. I checked the website that distributes the program for a phone compatibility list, and my phone didn't show up on either (compatible/non-compatible) list. Any help/ideas??

Woah, BT and IR are two TOTALLY different things... that'll be incompatible... you'd have to buy a BT dongle to use on your PC (or at least a BT USB adapter). was the error on the phone, or was it on the PC?

I know that BT and IR are 2 different things. The laptop has both built in. I was just saying that I didn't want to spend the money on an IR remote if I could use the Bluetooth phone as a remote. Sorry, I should have made better clarification there... And the error was on the phone. I am guessing that the supporting Java app is incompatible with my phone...

Yeah, it was a .jar file. I entered "www.blueshareware.com/bluetoothrc.jar" into my phone's web browser, and it automatically downloaded and installed the file to the phone. As soon as it was done, I got the error.

Bluetooth Remote Control v2.0 is probably a product that allows you to control devices through a Bluetooth connection. Imagine how convenient it would be if you could control USB devices connected to remote computers using a Bluetooth connection. In this case, you may need specialized software such as find out (USB over Network) to create a secure connection and share USB devices with other users across remote networks.
