I have the older 15G b&w ipod and I love it expect the battery life is disgusting, i let it charge all night now, I listen to it on my train commute to work and home, a total of about 3 hours and its completely dead and needs to be recharged...its really bad..I am not sure if I should deal with it or upgrade I mean come on its not even 18 months old and was $250...

Re: Which iPod is the best
u kno i found out recently?
if ur ipod warranty is still in effect
try replacing the firmware... and in the middle of the process of doing so, disconnect your ipod from the cable then it wont have a firmware to boot up from
then apple wont have a choice but to send you a new ipod cz the ipod wont start up and your warrenty wouldnt be void because you ddint open it
IT WORKS I TRIED
i prefer using podzilla of a linux form of a ipod firmware
for you 5th generation users dont attempt this
but if u dont wanna listen to me anyways...use rockbox as a alternate firmwareHey there!

Re: Which iPod is the best
i think a great 6th gen improvement would be to increase the battery life. i'd be ok with a 1/4" more 'fatness' to facilitate a bigger battery. the 4 hrs of video is somewhat slim, especially if you're traveling and can't recharge. (my personal problem last week)

Re: Which iPod is the best
i know. but it'd just be cool if you could make 2 flights without it dying.
i like the size factor of the ipod and don't really wanna start carrying all sorts of accessories/gear. that's why i got away from my mp3 cd player.

Re: Which iPod is the best
If you can afford it, I say go for the iPod. I tried other MP3 players before and I really don't like them. I think the iPod is much better made and the software for it is better.

...my birthday pressie arrived on Friday,
I haven't had time to play with it yet but I'm sure I'm going to enjoy it! I've had an mp3 player with external memory card (1gig) and I've got a Palm Pilot but how can you say no to 30 gig of music!

Re: Which iPod is the best
i love my 60gb ipod, when used for music i almost never have to charge it(lasts about 28 hrs). Allthough i think i would go for the 40gb zen outpost has for $99. Hard to justify $300 for slightly better battery and the hype it brings(dont know why i did it, the marketing got to me!)
