Sheffers, well said, seems like every time Microsoft comes out with a new system, people like the older one better. Seems like it's just comfort to not change. I have MS Win2000 Pro, and I love it, since xp was based on 2000, not a whole lot of change, except cosmetically. Like you said, you can't run a new and improved os on the same machine you ran DOS 3.1 on!!! When people tried to put 95 on their DOS machines, it slowed them down. Common sense people. Windows 2000 pro has never crashed on me EVER!!! I've been running it for about a year now with Athlon 1800, 256 MB ram. I have run up to 25 tracks on cool edit pro 2.0 and it records/plays fine, not sluggish.

2000 is more stable, but with good hardware and approved software XP is not too bad. Overrated, but not as awful as some might say

I like it, as stable as 2K and as compatible as 98. Not had a single problem.

I know I may be in the minority here...but I like XP. I have a workhorse system I built myself. It runs fast. I dual boot XP Home and Pro. Home for my kids and Pro for me. I like the restore points. It's almost like GoBack. I just recently had a problem with Netzero running on it, but It' the only major problem I've had. Has been just as stable as my 2000 machines. Now, I don't like the control MS tries to impose on you. I feel once you pay for something it's yours and you can do what you please. But since I can't get my Amiga 2000 back, this will have to suffice.
Never argue with a fool. People watching can't tell the difference.

Im a software developper and Windows 2000 is the best , most stable operating system. You should wait for more update to come to install XP.

Agreed...Windows 2000 is definitely more stable and less memory hungry.

Not that I'm saying XP is completely horrible... It's certainly a mile ahead of WinME... But it's a bloated Resource Pig compared to 2000 - shezzy2k's right.

I use computers a hell of a lot and I have to say the XP is a really great OS, if you know a few of the tweaks and arent running to old hard ware, e.g. at least a P III 1gig, 256 ram, 7200 rpm hdd and like a 16meg video it flys along have been using it for a bit over 2 years now and its awsome you just have to turn off a bit of the eye candy and shut down some useless services
