Cell Phone Reviews

If you like dealing with lots of carriers, but do not want to buy more smartphones, Motorola has a handset for you. This is a follow up to the other Motokey models but is called the "3 Chip". As the name implies, it can handle up to three SIM cards, making the user quite the social butterfly.

The Motorola Motokey 3 Chip looks a lot like its earlier abstraction, the Motokey XT EX118. Neither have a touch screen, but instead use a manual keyboard under the screen to do the controls. The Motokey 3 Chip looks similar to the BlackBerry Bold way of making a handset. The "over and under" craftsmanship is the first thing a person notices. The 3 Chip is not a smartphone, so there are no real computing skills to mention.

The screen size is not yet known, but the last model had a 2.4 inch screen for viewing. The display is made of the older LCD material, not AMOLED. The keyboard is a four row QWERTY setup with a touch pad directly above for navigating the screen of the handset. The keys are rounded off to help pound out those text messages with speed.

The inside hardware is typical feature phone fare. The Motorola Motokey of time past had 50 megabytes of internal memory space. This model is not yet listed, thanks to it newness. What is known about the memory is that Motorola put a flash card slot on the handset and is throwing in a two gigabyte MicroSD card for free with the purchase. The camera is rated for 3.15 megapixels and is not accompanied by a front camera. The camera can handle taking video, but definitely not in high definition format. There are no Wi-Fi features. There are also no 3G or 4G features for this handset.

The interesting part of the Motorola Motokey 3 Chip is its ability to take messages and data from three different phone numbers. Only one chip can handle data information at a time, but the calls can come in with messages and calls at any time on the other two chips. This means some savings for those who like to juggle their lifestyles. There can be a number for work, for family and for another group. Using the chip with the tower closest to the user to talk can prevent roaming charges. The Motokey 3 Chip will be sold in Brazil only and will be on the shelves this month. The price will be $171 dollars.
