The Motorola Moto X has stirred up its fair share of controversy when it got launched roughly a month ago, and some people began wondering whether or not this particular handset is worthy of the title "flagship". Benchmark scores have shown that, indeed, the Moto X is a true flagship, despite the fact that Motorola has decided to take a slightly different route than the rest of the manufacturers. The gadget focuses on contextual awareness and design, instead of huge screens and the idea of delivering the biggest numbers in any situation.

In any case, shortly after the Moto X has launched, rumor had it that US carriers were paying a pretty small price for each X unit that they were purchasing. These rumors led to the idea that the X will be discounted pretty quickly, and in case you were waiting for the right moment to buy the Moto X at a lower price, then this might be it.

Best Buy is now offering the Moto X for Sprint, AT&T and Verizon Wireless at a pretty attractive price. The retailer has cut 50% of the original $199 on-contract price, and is now selling the handset for $99 (on a 2-year agreement).

For that amount of money you will get a 4.7 inch display featuring a resolution of 720 x 1280 with a pixel density of 312 ppi, a heavily modified Snapdragon S4 Pro dual-core CPU running at 1.7 GHz, an Adreno 320 graphics chip, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. The handset features a 10 MP main camera complemented by a 2 MP secondary sensor, and is being powered by a 2,200 mAh battery. The device runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, and a bump to version 4.3 doesn't seem to be too far away.
