The HTC One is Now Available At Verizon (Finally!) – Check Out the Details

As pretty much every gadget enthusiast out there is probably already aware of, the HTC One has been unveiled and released many months ago, in spring. Shortly after the handset has been unveiled, US carriers have rushed in to announce that they will offer the device "soon". However, the one major carrier that remained quiet was Verizon; and it remained quiet for many months to come.

Fortunately, earlier this summer, Verizon has announced (in a rather obscure manner, via Twitter) that the HTC One will indeed be released in its stores, eventually. Many weeks have passed ever since, and relatively recently, Big Red has fired up its pre-registration for the HTC One, confirming once again that the gadget will eventually be launched on its network.

However, no exact release date has been given. Based on several leaks, the gadget should've been released on August 1, then on the 15th day of the month, and then, either on August 23 or the 29th. Funnily enough, none of these release dates have been correct, though the "August 23th" has been really close.

In other words, after a pretty dull rollercoaster ride, Verizon has finally started offering the One on its network, today (August 22).

The gadget comes at the price of $199.99 alongside a 2-year agreement. As expected the handset packs a 4.7 inch 1080 x 1920 LCD3 display, a Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor clocked at 1.7 GHz, an Adreno 320 GPU, 2 GB of RAM, a 4 MP UltraPixel camera featuring Optical Image Stabilization and a 1/3" sensor size, a 2.1 MP secondary camera, Boom Sound setup with front-facing speakers, BeatsAudio and a 2,300 mAh battery.

Verizon's One arrives in the Glacial Silver flavor only, and delivers 32 GB of on-board storage. Also, unlike other US variants that still run on Android 4.1, Verizon's variant apparently arrives with Android 4.2 out of the box. Although I suppose this is an advantage, I wouldn't be bothered by 4.2 too much, simply because HTC has announced that Android 4.3 should start rolling out on the One in the US and Canada, sometime by the end of September. Evidently, the new Sense 5 UI is present as well.
