Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. While on the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "Device" and tap "Display"
  4. Tap "Brightness" and move the slider to the left to decrease brightness
  5. Tap "Sleep" and select a lower timeout duration

Disabling Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS:

NOTE: It's highly recommended to keep all connectivity features disabled whenever they are not in use, as GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth can have a big impact on your phone's battery performance.

  1. While on the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "Personal" and tap "Location"
  4. Tap the "Location" slider and set it to "OFF" to disable GPS
  5. Press "Back" and return to the "Settings" menu
  6. Tap the switches associated with "Bluetooth" and "Wi-Fi" and set them to "OFF"

Change the Sync Settings for Apps:

  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "Accounts" and select the desired account
  4. Tap the account name at the top of the screen
  5. Clear as many check boxes on the "Sync" screen as possible, to reduce syncing and increase battery performance on the long run

Disabling Background Data:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Tap "Settings" > "Data usage"
  3. Press "Menu" and mark the "Restrict background data" check box

Minimizing the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Even though you might not use all your third party apps, certain applications can still affect your phone's battery performance even when not running. These apps can run processes in the background, and can be disabled or removed to improve battery performance:

  1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "Device" and tap "Apps"
  4. Select the app you wish to edit
  5. Tap "Disable" to turn off the app
  6. Alternatively, tap "Uninstall" to remove the app completely

Switching from 3G to 2G Connectivity:

  1. Tap "Apps" on the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "Wireless & Networks" and tap "More…"
  4. Tap "Mobile Networks" > "Network operators"
  5. Tap "Select manually" and press "OK"
  6. Select to use 2G instead of 3G

Keep Your Smartphone Up to Date:

NOTE: Certain software updates can contain improvements and fixes to your phone's battery performance, so it's recommended that you keep your smartphone up to date. NOTE: Following the steps below while no update is available will have no effect on your phone's battery performance

  1. While on the home screen tap "Apps"
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "System" and tap "About phone"
  4. Tap "System updates" > "Check now"
  5. If an update is available, follow any additional prompts to download and install it on your phone
