Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Tap Battery under Device
- Enable Standby intelligent power saving by tapping the switch to ON
Adjust the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Tap Display > Brightness
- Drag the slider to the left to decrease brightness
- From the Display menu, tap Sleep
- Select a lower timeout value for the screen
Disable Background Data:
- Access the Settings menu
- Tap Data usage
- Press Menu
- Enable Restrict background data
Reduce Sync:
NOTE: By syncing less data / less often you can improve your phones battery performance on the long run.
- Tap Apps
- Go to Settings
- Select an account
- Clear or enable the check boxes to customize (reduce) sync
Disable Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth:
NOTE: You can improve your phones battery life if you disable connectivity when not in use. This includes Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Tap Settings
- Tap the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi switches to disable these features
- Go to Settings and tap Location
- Tap the Location slider and set it to OFF to disable GPS
Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:
NOTE: Certain third party applications can affect your phones battery performance even if you dont use them (assuming they run regular processes in the background). As such its recommended to disable or remove rarely or never-used third party apps from your phone.
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings and tap Apps
- Select the app you want to disable or remove
- Tap Disable to turn off the app
- Tap Uninstall to completely remove it
Switch from 4G to 2G:
- Go to the phones Settings menu
- Tap More > Mobile networks
- Tap Network operators
- Tap Select manually > OK
- Choose the 2G option
Keep Your Phone Updated:
NOTE: Because certain software updates can include improvements to battery life, you should always keep your phone up to date. You can check if newer updates are available by doing the following:
- Tap Apps
- Go to Settings
- Tap About phone > System updates
- Tap Check now
- Assuming an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install it on your device
