Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Go to the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu”
  4. Enable ”Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Access the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  3. If necessary, disable “Adaptive brightness”
  4. Tap “Brightness level” and drag the slider towards the left to decrease screen luminosity
  5. Return to “Display” and tap “Sleep”
  6. Select a lower timeout duration, such as “15 seconds”

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS When Unused:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when not in use (such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS), you can conserve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, drag the “Status” bar down
  2. Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Location” and “Wi-Fi” tiles to turn off these features
  3. Access the “Settings” menu
  4. For additional GPS options, tap “Location” > “Mode”
  5. Select “Battery saving”
  6. To turn off hotspot, first go back to “Settings”
  7. Under “Wireless & networks”, tap “More”
  8. Disable “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot”

Switch to 2G Connectivity:

NOTE: If you don’t have access to a wall socket / battery bank and you wish to conserve battery life, you can temporarily switch to 2G connectivity. To do this:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type” and select “2G”

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party applications can affect battery life even when not in use, due to the fact that certain apps perform regular background processes. As such, by disabling or uninstalling unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
  3. Access “Downloaded”
  4. Select the desired app and tap “Disable” / “Force stop”
  5. To remove the application, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”

NOTE: The Facebook and Facebook Messenger applications are known to affect battery life to a great extent. You can monitor these apps and if necessary, uninstall them or use Facebook Lite instead.

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal”
  4. Select an account type and an account
  5. Disable the desired sync options

Keep the Software Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, so it’s recommended to keep your phone up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Access the “Settings” menu
  2. Under “System”, tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System update”
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download the available updates
