Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Go to the Settings menu
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Access the Settings menu
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- If necessary, disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Brightness level and drag the slider towards the left to decrease screen luminosity
- Return to Display and tap Sleep
- Select a lower timeout duration, such as 15 seconds
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS When Unused:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when not in use (such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS), you can conserve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, drag the Status bar down
- Tap the Bluetooth, Location and Wi-Fi tiles to turn off these features
- Access the Settings menu
- For additional GPS options, tap Location > Mode
- Select Battery saving
- To turn off hotspot, first go back to Settings
- Under Wireless & networks, tap More
- Disable Tethering & Mobile Hotspot
Switch to 2G Connectivity:
NOTE: If you dont have access to a wall socket / battery bank and you wish to conserve battery life, you can temporarily switch to 2G connectivity. To do this:
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type and select 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party applications can affect battery life even when not in use, due to the fact that certain apps perform regular background processes. As such, by disabling or uninstalling unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Access Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Disable / Force stop
- To remove the application, tap Uninstall > OK
NOTE: The Facebook and Facebook Messenger applications are known to affect battery life to a great extent. You can monitor these apps and if necessary, uninstall them or use Facebook Lite instead.
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life.
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Tap Accounts under Personal
- Select an account type and an account
- Disable the desired sync options
Keep the Software Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, so its recommended to keep your phone up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Access the Settings menu
- Under System, tap About phone
- Tap System update
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download the available updates
