Back Up Applications and Contacts:

  1. Tap “Settings” on the Start screen
  2. Go to “Update & Security”
  3. Tap “Backup”
  4. Tap the switch to enable “Back up content from participating apps”

NOTE: Contacts saved in the “People” app will be backed up

Back Up Media Files:

  1. Tap the “OneDrive” tile on the Start screen
  2. Tap the “Menu” icon in the upper-left corner
  3. Go to “Settings” and tap “Camera upload”
  4. Make sure the option is turned “On”
  5. If necessary, select the account you want to use for backing up media files

Factory Reset

WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all data stored on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted, including downloaded content, ringtones, apps, contacts, media files etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values.

NOTE: A factory reset will not affect data stored on the SD or SIM cards.

Reset via Settings:

  1. Tap the “Settings” tile on the Start screen
  2. Go to “System” and tap “About”
  3. Tap “Reset your phone”
  4. Optionally, choose to remove provisioned content from your workplace
  5. Tap “Yes” twice to confirm
  6. Enter your Microsoft Live account’s password to proceed and reset the phone

Reset via Hardware Keys:

NOTE: If you are unable to factory reset the phone using the method above (via Settings), you can try resetting it by performing a combination of button presses as follows:

  1. First, make sure the phone is turned off
  2. With the phone powered off, press and hold “Power” until the phone vibrates
  3. After releasing “Power”, quickly press and hold “Volume Down”
  4. When an exclamation mark appears on the screen, release “Volume Down”
  5. From this screen, perform the following button sequence:
    • Volume Up
    • Volume Down
    • Power
    • Volume Down
  6. Your phone should now start the reset process. Once done, it will restart automatically
