After ending a chat session with a Verizon tech, I immediately received a text message that my phone had been de-registered from My Verizon. I then got a text message that my Canada and Mexico minutes would expire on Nov 4. I have no such minutes. Another message followed in Spanish. I checked voice mail and it was all in Spanish. I made a call and the remaining balance message was active (unlimited minutes-message not needed). I initiated another chat and this tech said he could see in my record that the other tech had changed my phone to Spanish. He corrected this and the notification issue.

An hour or two later, my wife tried to call me and got a message "number not available from this calling area." A friend from another area code had the same issue trying to call me.

I called Verizon and the tech determined that my phone had been deactivated, thus I could not receive ANY calls, although I could call out. He reactivated the phone and it seems to be okay now.

Advice - save EVERY chat session you have by copying and pasting to a text file. Record voice calls to support.

The tech that did this should immediately fired. I have his name and the chats. And will relay this info as soon as I find out who at Verizon to send it to.

Other techs were puzzled as to why this tech would do what he did but they didn't seem concerned that it was done.

    AMAZING

No one hacked your phone. Someone misconfigured something in your account and it sounds like it got swapped with another line. That's all. Don't confuse malicious activity with a mistake. Yeah, it was a dumb mistake, but a mistake nonetheless.

Update - 10.15.14 Receive another call from Verizon about an account change. Go online and see that auto pay has been disabled. Had to set it up again. NOT mailicious activity. Reread first post and you will see that another tech could see where my phone had been switched to Spanish by the other tech. These cannot possibly be coincidences that 5 things were changed by Verizon and are things I cannot change myself. A mistake? I doubt it.

The use of the word 'hacked' implies malicious activity. (sorry, I hate it when that term is used loosely) I still don't see why you think this was intentional though. A tech was on the wrong account and started to make changes based on another customer's requests.

If anything you should call and complain - maybe they'll give you a credit.
