The HTC One S is an upper class smartphone from this Taiwanese company. It is able to deliver a very nice picture and is 4G enabled. Unfortunately, the battery is only 1650 mAh in power. Using this smartphone on a 4G network is going to drain it quickly. If you notice, Motorola puts batteries in their Maxx that are exactly twice as powerful as the one in this smartphone. There is a reason for that. Large screens like the HTC One S naturally use up more energy than a smaller screen. How do you get longer battery life in the HTC One S?

The first thing to do is to consider how much you are using the smartphone. If you are a casual user and make sure to turn off the handset while it is not in use, you may never have a problem. Using the HTC One S less is an noticeable and straightforward way to get longer battery life. If you are an addict to video, the HTC One S is a bit forgiving. But using the video and 4G is a sure way to be chained to an electrical outlet. If a user is viewing lots of videos on this smartphone it is wise to turn down the brilliance of the display. This can be done in the menus of the One S. Find the settings and turn down the brightness of the screen as far as possible and still enjoy those videos. This is considered one of the best ways to save on battery life on most smartphones.

The HTC One S comes with Android Ice Cream Sandwich for a mobile operating system. This means you can download Facebook apps, Twitter apps, Foursquare apps or any of a host of other social apps. All of them update themselves automatically. The trick here is to turn down the amount of times they update themselves during the day. To save on battery power, the social apps need to be turned down to check at larger intervals. The same can be done with Gmail. Turning down the frequency of softwares that automatically reach out to the web is a great way to save on battery life.

Thinking along the same vein, the location services can be turned down as well in the HTC One S. The Android system can check to see if there is a Wi-Fi connection nearby. That feature can be turned down or off. GPS uses location services also and can be turned off as well. The radios that come inside the One S smartphone will crank up the processor to check on connections. If the Bluetooth radio is not being used, turn it off. That can be done under the "Settings" menu of Android. If you have no 4G networks in your area, turn it off as well.

Some other things to do to get longer battery life in the HTC One S is to give the home screen a black background. This will work with the display of this smartphone because it uses AMOLED material. It is similar to turning off the light switch in your house. The last thing a user can do is to watch for long ringtones. Long ringtones use more battery than short ones. If you can stand to just here a short "beep" when your best friend calls, good for you. You can smile because you will be saving more battery life in your handset.
