Back Up Applications:
- Tap "Apps" from the home screen
- Go to "Settings"
- Swipe to "Personal"
- Tap "Backup and reset"
- To back up your apps you need to be logged in to a Google account. If necessary, perform the following:
- Tap "Backup account" > "Google Account" > "Add account"
- Follow the on-screen instructions to log in with an existing Google account, or create a new one
- Mark the "Back up my data" and "Backup account" check boxes
Back Up Contacts:
- Ensure your phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network
- Tap "Apps" from the home screen
- Go to "Settings"
- Swipe to "Personal"
- Tap "Backup and reset"
- Tap "Backup account" and select either "HTC Account" or "Google Account"
- Tap "Automatic Backup" to back up your contacts daily over Wi-Fi
- To back up your phone contacts, tap "Back up now"
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the HTC One M9 to your computer via USB
- From the AutoPlay window on the PC, double-click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
- Navigate to the location of your media files stored on the phone
- Copy the desired files and transfer them to a backup location on the PC hard drive
- When the transfer process is complete, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system tray and click "Eject"
- Safely disconnect your smartphone from the computer
Back Up Media Files to a Mac Computer:
- Establish a USB connection between your HTC One M9 and computer
- Launch the file explorer on the Mac and locate the media files on your smartphone
- Copy the desired files and transfer them on your Mac
- When the transfer is done, drag the HTC One M9 virtual drive icon to the "Trash / Eject" icon
- Safely disconnect the One M9 from the Mac
