Back Up Applications:

  1. Tap "Apps" from the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "Personal"
  4. Tap "Backup and reset"
  5. To back up your apps you need to be logged in to a Google account. If necessary, perform the following:
  6. Tap "Backup account" > "Google Account" > "Add account"
  7. Follow the on-screen instructions to log in with an existing Google account, or create a new one
  8. Mark the "Back up my data" and "Backup account" check boxes

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Ensure your phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network
  2. Tap "Apps" from the home screen
  3. Go to "Settings"
  4. Swipe to "Personal"
  5. Tap "Backup and reset"
  6. Tap "Backup account" and select either "HTC Account" or "Google Account"
  7. Tap "Automatic Backup" to back up your contacts daily over Wi-Fi
  8. To back up your phone contacts, tap "Back up now"

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the HTC One M9 to your computer via USB
  2. From the AutoPlay window on the PC, double-click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
  3. Navigate to the location of your media files stored on the phone
  4. Copy the desired files and transfer them to a backup location on the PC hard drive
  5. When the transfer process is complete, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system tray and click "Eject"
  6. Safely disconnect your smartphone from the computer

Back Up Media Files to a Mac Computer:

  1. Establish a USB connection between your HTC One M9 and computer
  2. Launch the file explorer on the Mac and locate the media files on your smartphone
  3. Copy the desired files and transfer them on your Mac
  4. When the transfer is done, drag the HTC One M9 virtual drive icon to the "Trash / Eject" icon
  5. Safely disconnect the One M9 from the Mac
