Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: Assuming one of your third party apps isn't working as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app's cache and / or data.

WARNING! Clearing an app's data will delete all personal information stored within the app, including saved games, profiles, high scores, credit card information and so on. It's recommended that you try fixing the problems by first wiping the cache. By doing so you can avoid losing all personal data stored in the app.

  1. Tap "Apps" on the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "Phone" and tap "Apps"
  4. Scroll to the "All" tab and select the desired app
  5. Tap "Clear cache"
  6. If clearing the cache did not help, tap "Clear data" > "OK"

Wiping the Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your smartphone isn't working properly, it freezes, crashes etc. you can try fixing these problems by wiping the cache partition. This can have a similar effect as a factory reset without losing all the personal data stored on the phone's internal memory. To wipe the HTC One M9's cache:

  1. Press and hold "Power" and tap "Power off"
  2. With the smartphone turned off, press and hold the "Volume Down" button
  3. Now press and release "Power" to turn the phone on (all while keeping Volume Down pressed)
  4. When the black screen with red and blue text appears, release all hardware buttons
  5. From the menu, press "Volume Down" to navigate to and highlight "reboot to bootloader"
  6. Press "Power" to enter bootloader
  7. In the bootloader screen, press "Volume Down" until you highlight "Boot to Recovery Mode"
  8. Press "Power" to enter recovery mode
  9. Next, use the "Volume Down" button to highlight "Wipe cache partition"
  10. Press "Power" to select the highlighted option
  11. Once the process is complete, "reboot system now" should be highlighted. If so, press "Power" to finish the process

NOTE: If wiping the cache partition did not solve the problems with your phone, you might want to consider factory resetting it instead. To learn how you can factory reset the HTC One M9, visit this thread for a full guide.
