WARNING! If you master reset your phone, all of your personal data stored on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted, including contacts, media files, downloaded content, ringtones etc. In addition, all of the settings will be restored to factory values.

Master Reset via Settings:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Access “Settings”
  3. Swipe to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset”
  4. Enable or disable “Automatic restore” and “Backup my data”
  5. Tap “Reset phone”
  6. If your phone is protected by a password / PIN / pattern, enter it to proceed
  7. Optionally, you can enable “Erase SD Card”. WARNING! Enabling this option will result in the deletion of all data stored on the SD card. Make backups if necessary
  8. At the “Warning” pop-up, tap “OK” and your device will be reset

Master Reset via Recovery (Hardware Buttons):

NOTE: In case you can’t reset the phone via Settings as it crashes, freezes etc. then you should be able to reset it from the Recovery menu instead. Recovery can be accessed by performing a combination of hardware button presses.

  1. Turn the phone off
  2. Press and hold “Volume Down” and “Power” at the same time
  3. When the phone shows a screen with three Androids, release the “Power” and “Volume down” keys
  4. You should now have access to the Recovery menu
  5. From Recovery, use “Volume down” to navigate to and highlight “Wipe data / factory reset”
  6. Press “Power” to highlight the selected option
  7. Highlight “Yes – delete all user data” using the “Volume” buttons
  8. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  9. Wait for the phone to reset
  10. Once done, “Reboot system now” should be highlighted
  11. Press “Power” to select and restart your phone

Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: After a factory reset you should check if newer software versions are available. To do so:

  1. Open “Apps”
  2. Access “Settings”
  3. Swipe to “Phone” and tap “About”
  4. Tap “Software information”
  5. Tap “Check now” and if necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the software update
