Back Up Data to Google Drive:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to and tap “Backup & reset”
  4. Tap “Backup account” > “HTC account”
  5. If necessary, sign in with your HTC account, or alternatively use a Facebook or Google account
  6. In the “Cloud Storage” menu, tap “Google Drive”
  7. Tap “OK” and sign in with your Google account to access Drive
  8. Tap “Back up now”. Optionally, you can enable “Automatic backup”

NOTE: To perform automatic daily backups over Wi-Fi, you can go to “Settings” > “Back up phone daily over Wi-Fi”

Restore Data from Google Drive:

  1. Once you have rebooted your phone after a factory reset (or without being signed in with a Google account), you will be greeted with the “Restore from HTC Backup” screen
  2. Select to restored data and register the account containing the backups
  3. Access the history menu
  4. Select the desired backup and tap “Next”
  5. Sign in with your google account if necessary, and allow “Drive” to connect
  6. After the files have been restored, tap “Next”

Back Up & Restore Data Locally

Back up Contacts on SD Card / Storage:

  1. Tap “Phone” on the home screen
  2. Access the “Phone” tab
  3. Tap “Menu” > “Manage contacts”
  4. Tap “Import / Export contacts” and select to “Export to SD card” or “Export to phone storage”
  5. Choose an account. Optionally, to set a password for the backup file, tap “Yes”
  6. Tap “OK” to confirm

Restore Contacts from SD Card / Storage:

  1. Open “People”
  2. Go to the “Phone” tab and tap “Menu”
  3. Tap “Manage contacts”
  4. Select to “Import / Export contacts”
  5. Tap “Import from storage” or “Import from SD”
  6. If necessary, select an account
  7. Choose the backup file you wish to restore
  8. Tap “OK”
  9. If the backup file is protected by a password, enter the password and tap “OK” to confirm

Back Up Messages:

  1. Tap “Messages” on the home screen
  2. Tap “menu”
  3. Tap “Backup & Restore SMS”
  4. Tap “Back up” > “Back up SMS”
  5. Optionally, set a password for the backup file
  6. Enter the desired name for the file
  7. Tap “OK”

Back Up Messages via Email:

  1. Launch “Messages”
  2. Tap “Menu” > “Back up / Restore SMS”
  3. Tap “Back up” > "Back up SMS via email”
  4. Choose whether to password protect the file
  5. Send the email and the attachment to your own email address

NOTE: To restore messages from an email, download the attached backup file and import it using “Messages”

Back Up & Restore Tasks:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Tasks”
  3. Tap “menu”
  4. Select to “Import / Export”
  5. Tap “Export to SD card”

NOTE: To restore tasks, launch “Tasks”, tap “Menu” > “Import / Export” and select to “Import from SD card”. If necessary, follow the on-screen steps to complete the process.

Back Up Dictionaries:

  1. Access “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “Language & Keyboard”
  3. Tap “HTC Sense input” > “Personal dictionary”
  4. Tap “Menu”
  5. Select to “Back up to storage” or “Back up to email”
  6. Tap “OK” to confirm
