NOTE: For a guide on how to back up app data, contacts, and media files on the HTC Desire 628, visit this thread.
Restore App Data:
- Make sure your phone is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Under Personal, tap Backup and reset
- Select Restore from HTC Backup
- Follow the on-screen steps to select a backup account and complete the restore
Restore Contacts from a Google Account:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts & sync
- If necessary, sign in with your Google backup account
- Access the accounts sync settings and ensure Contacts is enabled
- Tap Menu > Sync all
Restore Media Files from a Windows Computer:
- Connect the HTC Desire 628 to your computer via USB
- Swipe the Status bar down
- Enable Media device (MTP)
- On the computer, open the File Explorer and locate the media file backups
- Transfer the backup files back on the phone storage, preferably in the Media directory or the folders they originate from
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
Restore Media Files from a Mac:
- Connect the HTC Desire 628 to your computer via USB
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Enable Media device (MTP)
- On the Mac, open the File Finder
- Locate the backup media files and copy them
- Transfer the files on the phone storage, preferably in the Media directory
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual storage drive from the desktop and dropping it into the trash can
- You can now safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
