WARNING! When you factory reset your device, all your personal data located on the phones internal memory will be deleted. This includes downloaded content, contacts, apps, media files, ringtones etc. Additionally, all settings will be restored to factory values.
NOTE: Data stored on the SD and SIM cards will not be affected by the reset. However, you can learn how to back up data on the HTC 10 Lifestyle by visiting this thread. You can also visit this link for instructions on how to restore data.
Factory Reset via Settings:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Backup & reset
- Enable or disable Backup my data and Automatic restore
- Tap Reset phone
- Assuming that your phone is protected by a lock screen option, enter it to proceed
- Tap OK at the Warning pop-up to confirm and reset your device
Factory Reset via Recovery:
NOTE: if your phone crashes, freezes, or otherwise prevents you from resetting it via Settings, you can, alternatively, try resetting the device from the Android System Recovery menu. The menu can be accessed by performing a specific combination of button presses:
- First, ensure the phone is turned off
- Next, press and hold Volume Down
- Press and hold Power until the phone vibrates
- At the hTC download mode screen, release Volume down too
- Navigate the menu by pressing Volume down repeatedly
- Highlight reboot to bootloader
- Press Power to select the option
- Press Volume down to highlight Boot to Recovery Mode and press Power
- Press Volume down to highlight wipe data / factory reset and press Power
- Highlight Yes delete all user data
- Press Power again to confirm and reset the device
- Once the reset is complete, Reboot system now should be highlighted. Press Power to restart your phone
Check for Software Updates:
NOTE: Once you factory reset your device, its recommended to verify if new software updates are available for download. To do this:
- Open the Apps drawer on the phone
- Access Settings
- Scroll down to and tap About
- Tap Software information
- Verify if a new update is available for download, and if applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply any available updates. (NOTE: this process will require a reboot)
