How-to: Kyocera Hydro EDGE: Make Calls, Set Up Skype, Fring, Set up Visual Voicemail

Setting Up Skype:

1. Tap the "Play Store" icon located on the home screen. If it's missing, then tap the "All apps" icon and search for it in the apps drawer
2. Tap the "Search" icon at the upper-right corner of the display
3. Type in "Skype" and press the "Search" button on the on-screen keyboard
4. Select "Skype – free IM & video calls"
5. Tap "Install"
6. Read the "App permissions" and tap "Accept"
7. Once the installation process is complete, tap "Open" in the Play Store. Note: a shortcut of the app should also appear on the home screen. Alternatively, the app will be in the apps drawer
8. In Skype, enter your Skype account details and tap "Sign In". Alternatively, if you don't have an account, tap "Create a Skype account" and follow the on-screen instructions

Setting Up Fring:

1. Tap the "Play Store" icon located on the home screen. (Or in the apps drawer)
2. Tap the "Search" icon located in the top-right corner of the screen
3. Enter "Fring" and tap the "Search" button on the keyboard
4. Select "fring Free Calls, Video & Text"
5. Press "Install"
6. Review the app permissions and tap "Accept"
7. Once the installation process is complete, tap "Open". Note: a Fring shortcut will also be created on your home screen, if there is enough room
8. In the "Fring" app, type in your mobile number and then press "Continue"
9. Press "Continue" three more times
10. Tap "Go". You can now use Fring

Making a Phone Call and Creating a Conference Call:

1. Tap the "Phone" icon located on the home screen
2. Enter the recipient's phone number, or tap the "Contacts" icon located in the upper-right corner of the display
3. Tap the desired contact
4. While in a call, you can Mute the call or enable or disable the speaker by pressing the "On" / "Off" buttons
5. To create a conference call, tap the "Add call" button
6. Press the "Contacts" tab at the top of the display
7. Select the desired contact
8. Once the second call connects, tap "Merge calls" to create the conference
9. Press "End" to end the call

To Dial an International Phone Number:

1. Access the "Phone" app
2. Tap and hold the "0" key until the "+" symbol appears
3. Enter the desired international phone number and tap the "Phone" icon to place the call

Setting up and Accessing Visual Voicemail:

1. While on the home screen, tap the "Voicemail" icon. If not present, you can find it in the "All apps" menu
2. Read the welcome pop-up message and tap "No, thanks" (or optionally, "Show me")
3. Tap "Personalize now"
4. Your handset will now automatically dial the voicemail number. Follow the voice prompts in order to set up your voicemail account. Press "End" when finished
5. Tap "Welcome to voicemail" (or another message)
6. You can tap the "Play" button to hear the message, tap the speaker icon to enable / disable the speaker
7. If you wish to delete the message, tap the "Trash can" icon. This will send the message in the "Trash" folder
8. To permanently delete messages, tap "Inbox"
9. Select "Trash" and tap the "Trash can" icon
10. Tap "Delete messages"
