NOTE: You can visit this thread to learn how you can back up personal data on the Kyocera DuraForce XD.

Restore Contacts from SD / Storage:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Launch “Contacts”
  3. Tap “Menu” > “Import / Export”
  4. Tap “Import from SD card”
  5. Select the location where you wish to restore contacts
  6. After the phone finishes searching for vCards, select the vCard file you want to import

Restore Contacts from a Google Account:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings” > “Accounts”
  3. Select or sign in with the Google account containing the backup
  4. Tap your email address and make sure “Contacts” is selected
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync now”

Restore Media Files

From “Photos”:

  1. Open the “Apps” drawer
  2. Launch “Photos”
  3. If necessary, tap “Sign in” and follow the on-screen instructions to register the Google account containing the backups
  4. Choose to perform backups over “Wi-Fi only” or “Wi-Fi and mobile networks”
  5. Tap “Turn on”

From a Windows Computer:

  1. Establish a USB connection between the Kyocera DuraForce XD
  2. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down and make sure “Media device (MTP)” is turned on
  3. Open the File Explorer on the PC
  4. Locate the media file backups and copy them
  5. Transfer the media files back on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder
  6. Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage from the system tray
  7. Safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord

From a Mac Computer:

  1. If necessary, visit https://www.android.com/filetransfer/ on the Mac, then download and install “androidfiletransfer.dmg”
  2. Connect the Kyocera DuraForce XD to your Mac via USB
  3. On the phone, swipe the “Status” bar down and make sure “Media device (MTP)” is turned on
  4. Open “Android File Transfer” on the Mac
  5. Browse for the media file backups on the Mac, and use “drag > drop” to restore the files on your phone
  6. After the transfer is done, drag the phone storage from the desktop into “Trash can” to eject it, and safely disconnect the device from the USB
