WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all data stored on the devices internal memory will be deleted, including media files, downloads, contacts, and apps. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values. However, data stored on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected.
NOTE: Before your factory reset the LG Stylo 2, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can back up data on the device, and this thread for a guide on restoring data.
Factory Reset via Settings:
- On the home screen, swipe the Notification bar down
- Launch Settings and tap General
- Tap Backup & reset
- Clear or check Back up my data and Automatic restore
- Tap Backup account
- If necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to sign in with, or create a Google backup account
- Tap Factory data reset
- When prompted, select whether to Erase SD card too. WARNING! If you enable this option, all data stored on the SD card will be deleted during the reset
- Tap Reset Phone > Next
- Tap Delete all > OK
Factory Reset via Recovery:
NOTE: Assuming that your phone crashes, freezes, or otherwise doesnt let you reset it from the Settings menu, you can try resetting it from the System Recovery menu which can be accessed following a combination of button presses.
- First, make sure the phone is turned off
- Then, press and hold Power and Volume down at the same time
- When the LG logo pops up, quickly release and re-hold Power
- After you gain access to the Factory data reset screen, release all hardware keys
- In the said menu, press Volume down to highlight Yes
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- When prompted with Erase all user data and restore default settings, press Volume down to highlight Yes
- Press Power to confirm the selection and reset the phone
- Once the reset is complete, wait for your device to reboot
Check for OS Updates:
NOTE: Once you have factory reset your phone, its recommended to check if new software updates are available for download. To do this:
- On the home screen, drag the Status bar down
- Tap Settings
- Access General
- Scroll down to, and tap About phone
- Tap Software info and verify if new software updates are available for download
- If necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to download the update (NOTE: a reboot may be required)
