WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all data stored on the device’s internal memory will be deleted, including media files, downloads, contacts, and apps. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values. However, data stored on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected.

NOTE: Before your factory reset the LG Stylo 2, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can back up data on the device, and this thread for a guide on restoring data.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Notification” bar down
  2. Launch “Settings” and tap “General”
  3. Tap “Backup & reset”
  4. Clear or check “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore”
  5. Tap “Backup account”
  6. If necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to sign in with, or create a Google backup account
  7. Tap “Factory data reset”
  8. When prompted, select whether to “Erase SD card” too. WARNING! If you enable this option, all data stored on the SD card will be deleted during the reset
  9. Tap “Reset Phone” > “Next”
  10. Tap “Delete all” > “OK”

Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: Assuming that your phone crashes, freezes, or otherwise doesn’t let you reset it from the Settings menu, you can try resetting it from the System Recovery menu which can be accessed following a combination of button presses.

  1. First, make sure the phone is turned off
  2. Then, press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” at the same time
  3. When the “LG” logo pops up, quickly release and re-hold “Power”
  4. After you gain access to the “Factory data reset” screen, release all hardware keys
  5. In the said menu, press “Volume down” to highlight “Yes”
  6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  7. When prompted with “Erase all user data and restore default settings”, press “Volume down” to highlight “Yes”
  8. Press “Power” to confirm the selection and reset the phone
  9. Once the reset is complete, wait for your device to reboot

Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: Once you have factory reset your phone, it’s recommended to check if new software updates are available for download. To do this:

  1. On the home screen, drag the “Status” bar down
  2. Tap “Settings”
  3. Access “General”
  4. Scroll down to, and tap “About phone”
  5. Tap “Software info” and verify if new software updates are available for download
  6. If necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to download the update (NOTE: a reboot may be required)
