WARNING! By factory resetting your device, all personal data stored on the phones internal memory will be deleted. This includes media files, contacts, ringtones, downloaded content etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values.
NOTE: Before master resetting your phone, you can visit this thread for instructions on how to back up data, and this thread for instructions on restoring data.
Factory Reset via Settings:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- If necessary, tap Menu and switch to List view
- Scroll to Personal and tap Backup & reset
- Optionally, check the Back up my data and Automatic restore boxes
- If necessary, tap Backup account and sign in with, or create a Google account
- Tap Factory data reset
- Optionally, select to Erase SD Card too. WARNING! This will delete all data on the SD card
- Tap Reset Phone > Next
- Tap Delete all to confirm
- Tap OK
Factory Reset via Recovery:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or otherwise doesnt let you reset it via Settings, alternatively you can try resetting the phone from the Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses.
- Turn off the phone if necessary
- Press and hold Power and Volume down simultaneously
- When the LG logo appears, release and quickly re-hold Power
- At the Factory data reset prompt, press Volume down to highlight Yes
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Highlight Erase all user data and restore default settings
- Press Power to confirm
- Highlight Yes using Volume down and press Power again
Check for OS Updates:
NOTE: After you factory reset your phone, its recommended to check for new software updates. To do this:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- If necessary, tap Menu and switch to List view
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- In case a new update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it (NOTE: This process may require a reboot)
