Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: In case one of your applications doesn’t work as intended, crashes, freezes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache / data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all personal data stored within the app, such as profiles, settings, high scores, saved games, login and credit card information will be lost. To avoid losing personal data, clear only the app’s cache.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Go to the “General” tab if necessary
  4. Scroll to “Phone Management” and tap “Apps”
  5. Go to “Downloaded” or “All”
  6. Select the desired application
  7. Tap “Clear cache”
  8. If necessary, tap “Clear data” > “Yes” (read WARNING above)

Wipe the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your phone freezes, crashes, or runs out of storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these problems by wiping the device’s cache partition. This can yield similar results as a factory reset, without losing any personal data stored on the internal memory.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. If necessary, access the “General” tab
  3. Scroll to “Phone Management” and tap “Storage”
  4. After the device finishes calculating data, tap “Clear data” > “Yes”

NOTE: If clearing the cache didn’t help solving the issues, you can visit this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the phone instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: If you have installed a third party app on your phone that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Wake the screen if necessary
  2. Press and hold “Power” on the home screen
  3. From the power management pop-up, tap and hold “Power off”
  4. At the “Restart in safe mode” prompt, tap “OK” to confirm
  5. After the phone restarts, you should see a “Safe Mode” label in the lower-left corner of the home screen
  6. Next, open “Settings” and go to “General”
  7. Scroll to “Phone management”
  8. Tap “Apps” and access “Downloaded”
  9. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
  10. If you want to exit safe mode, simply press and hold “Power” and reboot your phone as you normally would
