WARNING! When you factory reset your device, all personal data located on the devices internal memory will be deleted. This includes media files, ringtones, contacts, downloaded content, applications etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values.
NOTE: Data located on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected by the factory reset. To learn how to back up data on the internal memory before the reset, visit this thread. For instructions on how to restore data, visit this link.
Factory Reset via Settings:
- Swipe the Notification bar down on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Access the General tab
- Tap Backup & reset and clear or check the boxes associated with Automatic restore and Back up my data
- Tap Backup account
- If needed, follow the on-screen steps to sign in with, or create a Google backup account
- Tap Factory data reset
- When prompted to Erase SD Card, choose whether to do it or not. WARNING! If you enable this option, all data on the SD card will be removed
- When ready, tap Reset Phone
- Tap Next > Delete all
- Tap OK to confirm
Factory Reset via Recovery:
NOTE: In case your phone crashes, freezes, or doesnt work as intended and you are unable to reset it via Settings, you can try resetting the device from the Android System Recovery menu instead. The menu can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses.
- Turn off the phone if needed
- Press and hold Power and Volume down at the same time
- At the LG logo, quickly release and re-hold Power
- At the Factory data reset screen, release all buttons
- Press Volume down repeatedly to navigate the Recovery menu and highlight Yes
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- When prompted to Erase all user data and restore default settings, use Volume down to highlight Yes
- Press Power to confirm and reset the device
Check for OS Updates:
NOTE: After you reset your phone, its recommended to check if new software updates are available for download. To do this:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Open Settings
- Access the General tab
- Scroll to, and tap About phone
- Tap Software info
- Check if a new update is available, and if necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install any available updates. NOTE: This process will require a reboot
