Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: If one of your applications crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache / or data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all personal data stored within the app will be deleted. This includes settings, save files, profiles, credit card and login information etc. To avoid losing personal data, clear only the applications cache.
- Swipe the Notification bar down on the home screen
- Launch Settings
- Access the General tab and tap Apps
- Swipe to All and select the desired app
- Tap Clear cache
- If necessary, tap Clear data > Yes (Read WARNING above)
Wipe the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably and youre considering factory resetting it, you can try solving these issues without a factory reset by clearing the phones cache partition. This can yield results similar to a factory reset without losing any personal data.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Launch Settings
- Access the General tab if necessary
- Tap Storage and wait for the phone to calculate the data
- To clear the cache, tap Cached data > Yes
- Wait for the cache to be cleared and once done, you should see a considerable lower value under Cached data
NOTE: In case clearing the cache didnt solve the issues, you can alternatively try to factory reset the phone. Visit this thread for instructions on how to do so.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: In case you have installed a third party app on your phone that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to easily uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In Safe Mode all third party apps are disabled by default.
- Wake the screen up if necessary
- Press and hold Power on the home screen
- Tap and hold Power off in the power management pop-up menu
- At the Restart in Safe mode prompt, tap OK to confirm
- Wait for the phone to reboot. Once done, you should see a safe mode label in the lower-left corner of the screen
- To remove an app, first open Settings
- Go to the General tab
- Tap Apps and access Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap uninstall > OK
- Once the app has been removed, you can exit Safe Mode by restarting your device as you normally would. Press and hold Power and tap power off
