Back Up Application Data:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to the “General” tab
  3. Tap “Backup & reset”
  4. Turn on “Back up my data”

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to the “General” tab
  3. Tap “Backup & reset” > “LG Backup”
  4. Tap “Backup & restore”
  5. Tap “Back up data” and ensure “LG Cloud” is turned on
  6. If prompted, sign in with your LG account
  7. Select “Personal data” and deselect the other options
  8. Expand “Personal data” and ensure “Contacts” is checked
  9. Tap “Start”. Once the process is complete, tap “Done”

Back Up Contacts on the SD Card:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access the “General” tab
  3. Tap “Backup & reset” > “LG Backup”
  4. Tap “Backup & restore”
  5. Tap “Back up data” and turn on “SD Card”
  6. Choose the items you want to back up and tap “Start”
  7. Once the backup is complete, tap “Done”

Back Up Media Files on the Phone:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to the “General” tab
  3. Tap “Backup & reset” > “LG Backup”
  4. Tap “Backup & restore”
  5. Select “Media data” and deselect the non-media options
  6. Expand “Media data” and select the media files you want to back up
  7. Tap “Start”
  8. Once the process is complete, tap “Done”

Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the LG U to your computer via USB
  2. Turn on “Media Sync (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)” when prompted or from the “notification” area
  3. On the computer, open the File Explorer
  4. Use the Explorer to locate to the desired media backup files or “.sbf” backup file on the phone storage
  5. Copy the files and transfer them in the desired backup location on the computer storage
  6. Once done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
