Anybody know how to do this? The lady at the store told me I could, but I didn't have anything on there for her to show me how to do it. I was also wondering if I could set individual songs for particular callers on my caller id? Thanks

It's easy. Have you attempted to read your manual at all?

Settings > Ring Style > Detail > Calls > Pick an MP3 tone loaded on your phone.

Re: Putting my uploaded mp3s as my ring tone?

Hello Slinky, let me know if you find out how to do it. I have a V3t (with T-Mobile) and would also like to find out how to do it on mine, yet it only gives me the option of choosing the sounds that are in the "detail" menu, and not my MP3s.

    Thanks

now...is there a way a caller can hear a particular ringtone when calling? Or is that just something that the cell phone company can only do?

Re: Putting my uploaded mp3s as my ring tone?

I have a Motorola RAZR V3m and also want to know how to change an mp3 from my sd card into a ringtone for my phone. The directions given above don't even come near to matching anything I have on my phone. My carrier is Sprint. Could that make a difference? And does anyone know how to do this with my particular phone?

PS My user manual is missing so I cannot refer to it. FYI

    Thanks in advance...

OK my friends, here we go, yes you can assign different types of ringtones to different contact. This is what you are going to do:
    1. Go to Address Book
    2. Highlight the contact that you want to assign the ringtone to.
    3. Press Menu.
    4. Click on Edit.
5.Here you can do all the editing that you need, but for now what you want is to store it in the phone. If it's allready in Phone memory, then scroll down to ringers ID, and voila, there you go. I hope this help. I have a Motorola Razr V3i.

Re: Putting my uploaded mp3s as my ring tone?

To set a MP3 song as a ringtone:
Once you upload the song to the Motorola cellphone, go to Menu> Funbox> sounds> choose your song> menu> copy if you want to keep it in sounds or move if you don't mind loosing it. Once you move it to ringtones, you won't be able to send it to anyone via bluetooth, so be carefull. Make sure when your'e done click on Done in the left side of your screen. And that should do it.

Re: Putting my uploaded mp3s as my ring tone?

I am very confused and would appreciate any help without the flaming. I have the motorola v3m, just bought it and am trying to set an mp3 I created to be a contacts ringtone.

I'm having a hard time tranfering mp3's into my phone, I keep getting an error saying media not supported or missing codec. I was able to add an mp3 using windows media player. I can play and hear the mp3 using the phones media player. I can not figure out how to set it as a ringtone, though. I have seen the above replies and I do not have a funbox choice in the menu. I have download music or ringtones. If I choose to set a new ringtone for my contact the options are get a new app or select one of the existing ringtones. I think this phone does not give me the option of adding my own song for a ring tone. Again, any help would be appreciate.

Re: Putting my uploaded mp3s as my ring tone?

Do you have a little box in your main menu that reads EXTRA? That's where the sounds are. Some are called Funbox, others extras, etc... If it's able to play music or mp3, then it got to have a place to store it. By the way, I have a V3i, and my mp3 player is not activated, but I still manage to use any music in the cell. as a ringtone. Once you located whre you have the music stored, press the menu bar and look for the copy option. I copy it to the phone and then apply it as a ringtone, good luck.

I was having the same problem running MPT under Vista. Somewhere (I forget where) I got the info that MPT did not have the licensing ability to do MP3's in Vista. The message occurred when I tried to save the mp3 in the Multimedia Studio.

So I got audacity and created the mp3 with it. Then used the Transfer section of MPT to move it to the phone, but then I couldn't make it a ringtone. I then learned that the V3xx apparently has a 500kb limit on ringtones. When I made a shorter and smaller mp3 I was able to make it a ringtone.
