Hi! New here and had a question about my new phone. When I try to make a ringtone using MPT ver. 4 with my SLVR, it says that the MP3 codec either doesn't exist or isn't up to date. I can get WAV files on to the phone, but I can't use those as ring tones. Can anyone help?

You may want to try the "LIVEUPDATE" in the MPT menu. It sounds like there is a file or codec that simply needs the updated software to work correctly. The manufacturer, BVRP, releases updates all the time.

If not, you may want to try using a program like MPTRIM (do a google search for mptrim) and then after you have the clip that you wanted, use MPT to upload it to your phone, or better yet, your transflash card.

My software says it is up to date, but still no MP3 codec. I found a way around it though. I use MPT to make the WAV clips, I use another program to convert them to MP3, the MPT again to transfer them to the sounds folder of the phone. It's a little more work than I'd like, but it beats the hell out of $2.50 a ring tone!!

Which is a bigger file, the WAV file or the Converted MP3 from WAV file?

Also will the phone itself not play WAV files?

What software/tools do you use to convert the wav files to mp3?
