Back Up Applications:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings and swipe to Personal
- Tap Backup & reset
- Enable Back up my data to back up Wi-Fi passwords, account data, and settings to Googles servers
- To restore data automatically upon reinstalling backed up applications, tap Automatic restore
NOTE: App data will be restored automatically once you sign in with your Google account for the first time on the phone, or after a fresh master reset.
Back Up Contacts:
- Tap Apps
- Go to Settings
- Tap Accounts and select the account you want to store (sync) your contacts to
- Tap Menu > Sync now
NOTE: Contacts will be restored automatically the first time you login with your Google account or after a fresh factory reset.
Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:
- Connect the Moto X Play to your PC via USB
- Swipe the Status bar down and if necessary, enable Media sync (MTP)
- From the AutoPlay window on the computer, click to browse the phones folders
- Locate your media files, copy them, and transfer them in the desired backup location on your computer
- Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect it
Restore Media Files from a Windows Computer:
- Connect the Moto X Play to your computer through USB
- Make sure Media Sync (MTP) is enabled
- From the AutoPlay window, select to browse the phones folders
- Launch a second Windows Explorer window and locate the media files backed up on your computer
- Copy the files and transfer them back to the phone memory
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect it from the USB connector
